Zum Pfeiffer
History of the Hotel & Restaurant
Every single brick of the Hotel and Restaurant "Zum Pfeiffer" is a witness to past stories. The property, which has been in use since 1672 or 1695 at the latest, has undergone numerous renovations and changes of ownership over the years. In 1825, the Dresden master baker Haubold replaced an older half-timbered house with the current main building. The property later changed hands and came into the possession of Johann Carl Rüdiger, who managed the adjoining vineyard from 1864 and ran a wine tavern from 1865.
In 1900, Dresden master tailor Carl Gustav Otto extended the popular restaurant, which had previously consisted of just one room, to include a veranda and terrace. A dance hall was added in 1926 and a single-storey extension was built on the gable end in 1927.
Over the years, the use of the property changed several times. After the political change, it was finally converted into a hotel with a panoramic restaurant in 1992 and opened in 1994. The name "Zum Pfeiffer" has been used for the restaurant since 1891.

RENOVATION AND RE-OPENING
New life
in Pfeiffer
In 2016, the Pfeiffer was closed for the time being due to a lack of staff, and the Pfeiffer was quiet until 2023. In 2023, the ownership changed and an extensive renovation and modernization project of the entire premises, the interior, the hotel rooms and the kitchen was initiated. The aim of the renovation work was to restore the Pfeiffer to its former charm and make the premises new and inviting. A modern vacation apartment with mountain views was also completed in the extension. The Pfeiffer has been open again in all its glory since October 2023 and is looking forward to welcoming new and old guests.
The Pfeiffer will now continue to shine in its historic magic and beauty above the rooftops of Radebeul, and every second of your stay will be filled with wonderful culinary experiences. We look forward to welcoming you again!
